My weight loss story/ job story

The year was 2007 and I had just graduated from Jacksonville University with my bachelors in elementary education and studio art. The last 5 months were extremely difficult with me doing my teaching internship and finishing up loose ends (classes) so I could graduate in December. I had been in college for the last 5 years including transferring back to Jacksonville from Rollins in Orlando.
College was not for me, I struggled a lot and barely graduated with a teaching degree. I was also living with my boyfriend/ fiancĂ© at the time who really wanted to be a chef. He loved to cook and took charge of the kitchen (I was happy to let him since I didn't like to cook). His cooking was usually the unhealthy stuff and he loved to make desserts. In the four years we were together I gained around 90 pounds. At my heaviest, I was 252. Big for my 5'6 height. In my last year of college, we grew apart and really started to feel like roommates. When he ended it (I saw it coming), I was a mess and stayed at my parents house for a week straight, and quit my teaching job. But even though that week was probably one of the worst in my life emotionally, I had just started training with this new trainer at my gym. At first we didn't get along, her like many others I felt were preaching at me to be healthy, lose weight. I felt like no one understand how hard it was emotionally to loose the weight. After my fiancĂ© left me something clicked between this new trainer and me. I started to trust her, and remember the moment where I felt like something clicked. I started working on my nutrition and working out 6 days a week for at least 30 mins. By the time my birthday came in August I was 218 and felt so close to becoming under 200 again. My parents gave me a new wii fit, and I became obsessed with it. There was always something new to do and the competitive nature of trying to beat my best scores made me want to work out everyday. It was finally fun. In the next year, I lost another   70 pounds exceeding my weight loss goals. On the way, I rediscovered my love for  heated power yoga (I had done it in my early college years) and also discovered I loved spinning and Pilates. 6 months later I was becoming bored and discouraged at my current job. Thinking of a masters degree (and knowing my job would not support that if it interfered) I quit. Best thing I could have done.
At the time everyone thought I was crazy. A month later after spending a week in the Cayman Islands and doing 2-3 yoga classes a day after a horrible sun burn, my mom encouraged me to get my yoga teacher certification I applied right in the airport of the Cayman Islands and found out I was a accepted two weeks later. The rest is history....I'm now a 200 hour registered yoga teacher, certified group exercise teacher, and personal trainer. I love my job. It's the best! I know this is what I was put on the earth to do. Follow your dreams...and BELIEVE!
